Darcy Vs. Thornton Showdown

Darcy Vs. Thornton – it’s the ultimate showdown between Fitzwilliam Darcy from Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice and John Thornton from Elizabeth Gaskell’s North and South

Darcy Vs. Thornton

Although there are different versions of each character, this showdown is specific to Colin Firth’s Mr Darcy from the 1995 BBC mini series of Pride and Prejudice and Richard Armitage’s Mr Thornton from the 2004 BBC mini series of North & South.

8 Australian Young Adult Books to Read in 2016

Australian Young Adult Books 2016

The majority of my all time favourite Young Adult books are by Australian authors. If you have never picked up an Aussie YA book please, please, please, do it. Right now. You can start with all of Melina Marchetta’s books (Looking for Alibrandi, Saving Francesca, On the Jellicoe Road ), try some Cath Crowley (Graffiti Moon) and Kristy Eagar (Raw Blue) which will hit you in the feels and finish off with a bit of John Marsden (Tomorrow When the War Began). Australia YA is the best. Hands down. Which is why I am super excited about the following  books.  Check out my list of Australian Young Adult books to read in 2016.

I hope everyone has had a lovely Christmas/festive season. As we are coming to the end of 2015 (can you believe it?!), I’m taking a look back at some of my favourite young adult books of 2015. Unfortunately, I didn’t meet my Goodreads challenge this year, finishing 41 out of the 50 books that I wanted to read, however, I still managed to read a few gems.

All I Want for Christmas Is…A Good Book!

Books christmas present 2015There is nothing better than a good book. Especially over summer, when you’re (hopefully) on break from work. You’re on the beach, you’re sitting in a park, you’re camped out on the couch in front of the air conditioner (at least in the southern hemisphere, you are!). And you’ve got something amazing to read to make you forget you have to go back to work soon. Can you tell we’re ready for Christmas holidays? So below are some bookish stocking stuffers we are hoping to appear on Christmas morning:

the unexpected everything by morgan matson

Goodreads Synopsis:

Andie had it all planned out. When you are a politician’s daughter who’s pretty much raised yourself, you learn everything can be planned or spun, or both. Especially your future.

Important internship? Check.
Amazing friends? Check.
Guys? Check (as long as we’re talking no more than three weeks)

But that was before the scandal. Before having to be in the same house with her dad. Before walking an insane number of dogs. That was before Clark and those few months that might change her whole life.Because here’s the thing – if everything’s planned out, you can never find the unexpected. And where’s the fun in that?

Why I’m waiting…

It’s as simple as this. Morgan Matson has yet to write a book that I haven’t utterly adored. She’s one of the best YA contemporary writers out there who can write realistic fiction that will give you all the feels.
