We watch an unhealthy amount of television here at Cactus Pop. But if TV is so bad for you, we don’t ever want to be good. Here are the latest TV shows that we are watching.
Well, Comic Con season is all but over for another season. We were lucky enough to make it to Oz Comic Con (read our posts here and here), and scoured the internet for news from the big kahuna San Diego Comic Con. SDCC is definitely at the top of our bucket list!
So with that in mind, we got to thinking: if we could put together our own dream panel of five celebrities, who would they be?
A recent trip to Hobart (you can read all about it here) led to the discovery of my new favourite drink. Hot apple cider. Warm, spicy and slightly tart; there’s nothing more comforting to drink on a cold winter’s night. Every night, for the 3 nights we were in Hobart, we headed down to Knoppies, a Hobart institution, to get a glass of this delicious drink. Maybe it was because I couldn’t feel my face, fingers or toes after being in the bitter Tasmanian cold but I swear it was the best beverage I had ever had.
Planning a trip to Hobart, Tasmania and not sure where to go/what to do? Or more importantly, where to eat? We have you covered. Hobart has a seriously great food scene and, for a small city, you can pack a lot of activities in. Here’s our hot picks to keep you fuelled and busy!
I admit it. I love classics. Give me a man in a cravat and a top hat any day. But I know a lot of people who don’t understand my love for them, they think that all classics are boring, slow stories. Well, my friends, not all of them are…If you’re looking for your next classic or you’re interested in reading one for the first time, then look no further than a novel by Elizabeth Gaskell. I have to admit, I’m slightly obsessed with her work. There’s romance a plenty, but also plenty of other drama to keep you hooked.
So here’s a quick rundown of what Mrs Gaskell has to offer and why you should pick up one of her books pronto…
If there is one thing that everyone should know about me it’s that I love food. I know what you’re thinking. Who doesn’t love food? But I seriously love food. The majority of my holidays revolve entirely around food. When planning my next trip away, the first thing I think of isn’t how beautiful the beach will be or what monument I will visit, it’s the food I will eat there.
Croissants in Paris, gelato in Florence, New York hot dogs, Chicago deep dish pizza, Key Lime Pie in Florida. I want it all.
So it was with slight trepidation that I planned my recent trip to the Hawaiian island of Oahu. Having been to Fiji and Vanuatu, I’ve had previous run-ins with Polynesian food and have been left wanting. Taro, more like Ta-No.
Friends and family had regaled me with their tales of eating in Hawaii. American fast food chains serving super-sized meals seemed to be the go-to Hawaiian dining experience.
Not one to shy away from a food challenge (I run away from all other challenges life throws my way), I made it my mission to seek out the best of what Hawaii had to offer.
You can make sure you don’t miss out on trying any of this amazing food by getting this Hawaii Food Checklist for your trip.
Here is a list of my top eats on Oahu for a truly unique Hawaiian experience:
When asked about my favourite tv show, the answer is unequivocally the same every time: Gilmore Girls. A Saturday night staple during my high school years, my mum, sister and I would settle down at 7.30 and have ‘girl time’. Feet tucked under us on the couch, dessert in hand (I mean, I challenge you, I really do, to watch this show without eating!), ready to laugh at Lorelai and Rory’s antics and wax lyrical about how Luke was “a bit of all right”.
