Andie had it all planned out. When you are a politician’s daughter who’s pretty much raised yourself, you learn everything can be planned or spun, or both. Especially your future.
Important internship? Check. Amazing friends? Check. Guys? Check (as long as we’re talking no more than three weeks)
But that was before the scandal. Before having to be in the same house with her dad. Before walking an insane number of dogs. That was before Clark and those few months that might change her whole life.Because here’s the thing – if everything’s planned out, you can never find the unexpected. And where’s the fun in that?
Why I’m waiting…
It’s as simple as this. Morgan Matson has yet to write a book that I haven’t utterly adored. She’s one of the best YA contemporary writers out there who can write realistic fiction that will give you all the feels.

In May this year I was lucky enough to stay at the fabulous Aulani Disney Resort in Hawaii. Being a Disneyphile, I was super psyched to find out that there was a Disney resort on Oahu and I knew I had to stay there. I planned a split stay, spending half my time in Waikiki to be close to the tourist attractions, shopping, restaurants etc, and then the other half of my trip was spent soaking up the sun and enjoying Hawaii – Disney style.
Although Aulani is a Disney resort it’s not over the top Disney. The resort has tried to stay true to Hawaii’s Polynesian culture and style while still providing that family friendly Disney magic vibe that people love. Here are some of my tips for staying at Disney’s Aulani Resort. I would love it if you share some of your tips in the comments below!
By now you would have heard the news that Netflix is ordering a brand new, albeit short, season of Gilmore Girls. And AMEN Netflix, AMEN. Fans have been campaigning hard for a long time and we are finally getting it people! Scott Patterson, it appears, was on to something when he spoke about wanting a new series at Oz Comic Con this year (for more details click here). So, with all that in mind, what are we at Cactus Pop, wanting to see in this new season?
If you want to get into the Halloween spirit but can’t stomach slasher flicks and find yourself wide-eyed in bed after watching anything spooky, try on these scaredy-cat friendly movies for size. Note: Although most of these movies are okay for adult wimps and come with a PG rating, some are PG-13 and definitely aren’t for little kids, namely The Witches, Edward Scissorhands and Return to Oz which have some creepy scenes.
Sometimes, all it takes is one episode. It probably isn’t even the first episode of the series. Or the second. In fact it’s probably strategically placed mid-season to make sure you keep watching. You know the episode I’m talking about. Where all the tension builds up and you know it’s about to all blow up. Maybe literally. But from that episode you are totally hooked and wait with baited breath for the next episode. We can probably all pick an episode from a favourite tv show. It’s the one you use to try and sell it to your friends. Well, here’s us putting our selling skills to the test. Beware of spoilers?
If you had of asked me what my favourite genre was when I was growing up I would have said ‘fantasy.’ But now that I’m older and hopefully a bit wiser, I’ve learnt just why some certain fantasy books were my favourite. They all had something in common, and thanks to my hours getting lost on Goodreads, I’ve realised what it is. They all had a fantastical twist to them but were all grounded in reality. Harry Potter is a prime example. The idea that an entire magical community was hidden in in plain sight was more exciting to me than an alternate universe that comes with its own new set of vocab.
So if you are looking for a little magic in everyday life then you’ve come to the right place. Here are some of my recent finds of fantastical fiction with a twist…
