We are all anxiously waiting for BTS to release the final part in their Love Yourself series, ‘Love Yourself: Answer’, this Friday the 24 August.
The release of the album’s comeback trailer ‘Epiphany’ last week exceeded all expectations and we are all counting down the days until we have more new music, more music videos and answers to the narrative that has been weaved into BTS’ work through a variety of platforms (music videos, trailers, notes, etc.) since 2016.
If you’re lucky enough to have friends that are also BTS fans, the comeback is a great chance to gather around and share the crazy rollercoaster ride of emotions that is a BTS comeback. If you currently don’t have any friends in your real life who are fans, I would strongly suggest that you start converting them ASAP.
I’ve put together a guide on how to host your own BTS comeback party. Let’s get it!
What you’ll need:
If you have never had Soju before you are missing out! It’s a Korean liquor that is similar to vodka and comes in many different flavours. It’s widely popular in South Korea and the perfect drink to have at your BTS comeback party (if you are of legal drinking age!). Korean grape soda is a good alternative for those that don’t drink alcohol.
Living in Melbourne we are pretty spoiled for options for eating Korean food. If you don’t live somewhere where Korean food is readily accessible you can try making a few simple dishes yourself. I personally have tried this Japchae (Korean Noodle Stir Fry) recipe and it was super easy to make and delicious. Another simple option would be to make Bibimbap as the main ingredients are things that you should be able to easily find at your local supermarket. If you’re ordering in then you can go all out. My personal favourites are kimchi fried rice, Korean fried chicken, Bulgogi, Kimchijeon (Korean pancake) and Tteok-bokki (spicy rice cakes).
This one is a no-brainer as you are going to want to play some music to get everyone hyped for the comeback. Love Yourself: Her and Tear are the obvious choices for music to play but you could also let your guests pick their faves. If you’re in a dancing mood there are plenty of playlists on Spotify that have curated BTS’ tunes just for dancing. Make sure you have a good set of speakers and understanding neighbours!
Now is the perfect time to bring out all your BTS merch and display it loudly and proudly. If you are fortunate enough to have posters, ARMY bombs, BT21 plushies and photo stands then go wild! If you’re like me and aren’t lucky enough to have any of that stuff – don’t fear! You could make your own decorations or head to your local party decoration shop and get banners, balloons etc. in pastel pink and ‘Love Yourself’ colours. This is a perfect way to make your party look ‘on theme’.
Snacks & Dessert
After the excitement of listening to Love Yourself: Answer wears off and you have finished dissecting every minute detail of the comeback, you and your guests might get the munchies so it’s a good idea to have some snacks on hand. Why not try some classic Korean snacks or if you like to bake you could dust off your whisk and create some BTS themed baked goods. An extremely easy but effective idea is to create your own cupcake or cake toppers by printing out your favourite BTS pictures and sticking them on toothpicks that you could place on top of your baked goods.
Games: RUN BTS! Bingo
Why not revisit some of your favourite RUN BTS! episodes and play bingo. You can use the template I’ve created below or create your own.
I hope everyone has a safe and fun comeback season and enjoys every minute of it! Drop us a comment below if you’re planning on throwing a comeback party or let us know how you will be spending the BTS comeback.
