I’ve been going on somewhat of a journey these past few months. I guess I have been feeling a bit stressed and crowded – maybe just a touch of year-end-blues. I have been feeling like there is a lot of excess in my life. I’ve been thinking a lot about my impact on the environment (probably a reaction to watching The True Cost). I’ve also been thinking about how I want my house to be tidy and ‘peaceful’ but it always seems to be in a state of disarray, with a lot of clutter, both out in the open, but also inside wardrobes and cupboards.
This led me to start looking into Marie Kondo, whose name I had heard enough about on social media but I didn’t really know anything about her tidying method. A quick YouTube search had me watching several videos on the KonMari method of decluttering (see some of my favourites linked below). Soon enough I was online ordering both The Life-changing Magic of Tidying and the sequel Spark Joy. And getting super excited about starting my own journey.
I recently got back from a month long trip across Canada which was an incredible, once-in-a-lifetime experience. So now that I’m back (and attempting to adjust back to normal everyday life) I thought I would share with you some of the highlights and even some recommendations. But it’s mainly a way for me to relive the experience and show off some of my snaps from the trip.

I am attempting to incorporate a few more healthy habits into my life. Tired of feeling sluggish and spending hours on the couch, last week I heard someone talk about going screen-free for a day, and I thought, YES. This is the perfect habit to introduce into my life. Spend a whole day with no computer, iPad, iPhone, tv or Kindle. Good for my eyes, my brain, and for my ability to procrastinate like there’s no tomorrow. So Sunday, I went screen-free for the first time. It was sort of tough, but sort of not. Here’s why.

We all have our favourite books. The ones that we could reread over and over again. Sometimes it’s hard to even put a finger on why we love them so much. It might be relatable characters or a plot that is pure escapism. For me, I hold a soft spot for books that I read in my younger years. These are the ones that I will constantly go back to and read. It’s a way for me to relive my childhood and recapture nostalgic feelings and emotions. Rereading a favourite book is like a mug of hot chocolate on a winter’s night, a hug from a friend or unicorns.
